About Us

 

Scipio Presbyterian Church is a 175 year old, small membership church located in Jennings County, Indiana.  Perched atop a hill, the church building overlooks Indiana Highway 7 and is a short walk from one of Indiana’s beautiful covered bridges.  Church members and friends come from families who have roots going back several generations as well as folks who’ve relocated and are nurturing their own newly planted roots.  Business owners, farmers, artists, medical professionals, students, and retirees come together to worship, study, and serve.  In addition to weekly worship services, Women's Society meeting, Halloween Trick or Treat, quarterly men's fellowship breakfast, and breakfast for congregation on the first Sunday of each month, are activities that provide opportunities to welcome neighbors and visiting friends and family to join us in fellowship.

 

Like many congregations, Scipio Presbyterian Church has struggled to find ways to address declining membership and resources while remaining faithful to its mission to serve God and neighbor.  However along with the struggles, the blessings are plentiful - the sound of young voices praying the Lord’s Prayer, the fellowship breakfasts, the ongoing prayer ministry, and the endless generosity of people who are always willing and eager to help others in need no matter their own challenging circumstances.
